French Inheritance & Estate Planning
Advice on inheritance, wills, gifts and the transmission of family wealth under French law
I advise individuals and families on the planning and administration of estates, as well as on difficulties that may arise between heirs.
My notarial background and experience in inheritance law enable me to approach these matters from a legal, family wealth and property perspective.

Planning or administering an estate
Inheritance issues may arise before death, when considering how family wealth should be passed on, as well as after death, when the heirs’ rights must be determined and the estate administered.
I advise individuals and families on the French-law implications of wills, gifts and proposed estate arrangements, and assist with the administration of estates that have already opened.
Where several heirs are involved, I can also identify issues that may delay the administration of the estate and, where possible, assist in finding a solution that allows the estate to be divided.
Disputes between heirs and estate co-ownership
The administration of an estate may become difficult where heirs disagree about their respective rights, the effect of a will or gift, the management of jointly owned property or the terms of the division.
I advise heirs on their legal position and assist in seeking an amicable solution where possible or, where necessary, in court proceedings.
- disputes concerning wills or their implementation
- disputes relating to gifts and their treatment within the estate
- management of jointly owned estate assets
- amicable or judicial division
- difficulties relating to the sale or allocation of property forming part of the estate
